LEWISHAM COLLEGE HOSTS BLOODHOUND
Lewisham College spent a morning in the fast lane this week, when Richard Noble OBE and the team from The BLOODHOUND Project dropped in to spend time with staff and students on campus.
The BLOODHOUND Project is Britain’s latest attempt to break the World Land Speed Record, with an awesome car capable of 1,050mph. Project Director Richard Noble is looking to beat his team’s own previous record set by Thrust SSC, in 1997.
Lewisham College is just one of the colleges nationwide to pledge its support to the revolutionary project, which aims showcase science, technology, engineering and maths in the most exciting way possible and encourage more students to pursue these subjects to ensure Britain has a competitive future.
The presence of the BLOODHOUND SSC team at Lewisham College was made possible by Protocol National, a sponsor of The BLOODHOUND Project and its official FE Partner. As the largest provider of outsourced recruitment services to the FE sector, Chief Executive, Philip Harrison, said, “Protocol National is proud to be supporting the project as it engages learners and inspires a generation to pursue the STEM subjects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.”
Maxine Room, Principal of Lewisham College said: “Having the BLOODHOUND SSC team at Lewisham College was a brilliant experience for both students and staff alike. We’re in the business of delivering world class skills to our learners and colleges like us are key to helping the government pursue its STEM agenda. The BLOODHOUND project was a great example of what hard work and imagination can lead to.”
Every college that signs up to the BLOODHOUND Education Programme receives regular email updates on the project and its progress, along with access to online teaching resources.
