WIRRAL METROPOLITAN COLLEGE INVITES HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS TO ‘DROP IN’AND USE

Healthcare Professionals are being urged to attend an informal drop in event on 20 April to find out more about how their skills could open doors leading to a new career, additional qualifications, and a boost in income.

The event is being held at Wirral Metropolitan College on 20 April and will provide information on the opportunities for trained professionals to help others by passing on their skills working part time as a lecturer or assessor in a Further Education College.

Organised by Protocol National, a company that specialises in providing lecturers and NVQ Assessors to FE colleges nationwide, it will explain the options and encourage people to consider working in FE as an exciting, additional element to their career.

Protocol National Client Development Manager, Sue Mercer, explains why the opportunities are available: “We have seen an increase in the number of people studying healthcare-related courses and so the need for people to teach them has also risen. Areas in which we have seen a particular demand are Dementia training, Emergency First Aid, Protection of Vulnerable Adults and Infection Control – mainly because the Government is encouraging staff working in hospitals and social care settings to undertake training in preventing the spread of disease.

“This is just a selection of the subjects however, so we really need Healthcare Professionals in all areas who have recent occupational experience so they are up to date on the latest knowledge and techniques.”

Teaching in Further Education and gaining teaching and assessing qualifications can be an excellent way of getting back into the workplace after a short break, furthering a career through Personal Development or broadening an existing role. As the work is part time, it is often flexible enough to fit around family or personal commitments and can often run alongside an existing job to generate extra income.

The drop in session will be taking place between 5pm – 8pm in the Lecture Theatre at Conway Park Campus, Europa Boulevard, Conway Park, Birkenhead, CH41 4NT.
