PROTOCOL NATIONAL BACKS WORLD LAND SPEED RECORD BID
Protocol National, the UK’s largest provider of staff education services to the Further Education sector, has announced a three-year ‘Stripe Sponsorship’ deal with The BLOODHOUND Project, to introduce and promote this iconic Engineering Adventure to the FE sector.
The deal was agreed after a successful collaboration at the recent Association of Colleges annual conference where, as part of its event sponsorship, Protocol National featured the BLOODHOUND SSC (Super Sonic Car) show car on its stand and launched The BLOODHOUND Education Programme to the FE community for the first time.
The sponsorship agreement will allow Protocol National to work more closely with the BLOODHOUND Project team, enabling them to engage with colleges keen to find out about the project and how it can generate interest and enthusiasm for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths-based subjects.
Protocol Chief Executive, Phillip Harrison, said, “The BLOODHOUND Project is not just about beating the current World Land Speed Record, it is about stimulating a generation of students. At the AoC Conference we saw first-hand the awe-inspiring effect that this project has on principals and learners alike and to be able to create that impact is incredibly valuable. We want to help bring this unique and exciting project to the Further Education sector so that as many people as possible can experience and appreciate just how exceptional this project is.”
“Richard Noble, Project Director, added, “The BLOODHOUND Project was borne out of the current shortage of engineers and the need to inspire 5-19 year olds to become the engineers, scientists and mathematicians of the future. We now have more than 2,400 schools and 35 universities signed up to our Education Programme but until now Further Education colleges were a relatively untapped area. We are delighted that Protocol National have come on board and will help us to reach the 4.5 million young people learning in colleges across the country.”
BLOODHOUND SSC is Britain’s latest attempt to break the World Land Speed Record with a car capable of 1,000mph. As well as attempting to beat their previous record, which was set in 1997, the team’s mission is to inspire future generations and current students to pursue the STEM subjects of science, technology, engineering and mathematics by showcasing these in the most exciting way possible.
Through the BLOODHOUND Education Programme, colleges can already access educational resources and information and Protocol National’s involvement will allow them to visit the BLOODHOUND Project site to see the car under construction and understand the work that is going on as well. There will also be opportunities to become involved in the design issues of the car and other aspects of the record breaking bid.
