PASS ON YOUR SKILLS AND EARN AS DEMAND FOR COURSES PROVIDES NEW LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES

A drop in event is being held at the Wiltshire College site in Trowbridge to give skilled individuals the chance to find out more about new flexible working opportunities.

The event, on 15 July, will explain the roles that will be available within Further Education when the new academic term begins in September and allow interested parties to find out more.  Run by Protocol National, a company that specialises in providing part-time lecturers and NVQ assessors to over 250 Further Education colleges nationwide, the event will focus on the benefits of lecturing and show how it can provide a consistent income as well as fitting around other commitments.

Steve Ball, Protocol National’s Client  Development Manager, explained, “With jobs still hard to come by, more and more school leavers and adult learners are turning to education as a way to learn new skills or upgrade existing knowledge.

The large number of students enrolling for the 2009 / 2010 academic year at Wiltshire College has resulted in an unprecedented need for people to lecture in subjects as diverse as Dressmaking, Computer programming and Tree Surgery.

The event is designed to show the wide range of opportunities that exist in Further Education and demonstrate how becoming a lecturer can easily and quickly change your work/life balance, as well as offering a rewarding new career.”

Steve added, “Anyone currently working in a vocational career may have the knowledge and ability to teach part time in a Further Education college – many people don’t realise that you don’t need a background in teaching. The skills and knowledge gained on the job can be enough to get started, with the necessary qualifications being obtained whilst teaching.”

The event is being held on Wednesday, July 15th between 12.00pm and 7.00pm at Wiltshire College Trowbridge, The Arc Theatre, Student Common Room, College Road, Trowbridge, BA14 0ES.
