BOOST YOUR INCOME AT EPPING FOREST COLLEGE
As the credit crunch bites and New Year prospects look increasingly uncertain, Epping Forest College is giving skilled individuals a chance to find out how they can subsidise their current income.
A drop-in event is being held at Epping Forest College in Loughton on Wednesday, 21 January to explain the opportunities that exist and show people how rewarding becoming a part time lecturer or assessor in Further Education can be. The event is being run by Protocol National, a company that provides Lecturers and NVQ Assessors to over 230 FE colleges across the country, and Business Development Manager Ann Biggins says there’s never been a better time to consider a career in education.
“At the moment lots of people are looking for flexible work to top up their wages or fit around their home life. Lecturing or assessing part time gives you that flexibility while also providing a great sense of achievement.
“In terms of the skills required, there’s demand for people with all kinds of experience from motor vehicle to maths, and business to beauty therapy. There are plenty of opportunities for work out there but often people just don’t realise that their skills could take them out of the salon or the garage and into a different environment.”
While lecturers teach students skills in the college environment, assessors are generally more focused on workplace learning. They provide support and guidance to candidates taking NVQs, observing them as they work towards their qualification.
The event is being held on Wednesday 21 January from 1.30pm – 7.00pm at Epping Forest College, Borders Lane, Loughton, Essex, IG10 3SA.
