A one-day seminar for those responsible for promoting equality and diversity through the curriculum and ensuring success for all learner groups. Suitable for:
• Teachers, tutors and advanced practitioners who want to develop best practice equality and diversity in teaching and learning sessions
• Those involved in observing or mentoring to improve teaching, learning, and outcomes for learners
• Those responsible for managing learner success and developing the curriculum to improve outcomes for all learners

Aims of the day
The Ofsted Annual Report 2009/10 noted the ‘underperformance of some groups of learners’ as a common weakness in some colleges. This event will focus on teaching and learning and curriculum delivery strategies to reduce achievement gaps and ensure that all learners have an equal chance of reaching their potential. We will explore practical solutions to fully prepare learners for their next steps in our diverse world and identify solutions to overcome barriers to success. Content covered includes:

• Identifying the achievement gaps and successful strategies to reduce them
• Preparing learners to live and work in a diverse world
• Linking the curriculum with equality and diversity
• Exploring some common barriers to promoting equality and diversity in the learning environment and developing tried ad tested strategies to overcome these
