Designed to improve safeguarding within the teaching and learning environment, this one-day training event is the key to equipping staff with knowledge and skills to protect learners and promote safety and well-being.
This event is for curriculum, support and tutorial managers:, teachers and support staff, and others in direct contact with learners.
Overview
The September 2009 Common Inspection Framework places an increased emphasis on the safeguarding of learners. The contribution that tutors and other key staff in direct contact with learners can make to safeguarding is a significant one. This interactive training event enhances understanding of that contribution and develops skills to promote safety using the curriculum and the teaching and learning environment as a vehicle.
This interactive one-day event will include practical opportunities for delegates to:
• Explore the contribution tutors can make to the safeguarding of learners in learning situations
• Consider the expectations of the CIF and other recommendations
• Consider a range of factors that keep learners safe
• Introduce a range of strategies to prevent, protect and promote safeguarding within learning situations

Deborah McVey
Associate Head of Observe, Protocol National
Deborah has an impressive reputation across the learning and skills sector. Known for her dynamic and engaging interpersonal skills, Deborah is a popular and influential trainer and consultant. She has been an inspector with OFSTED since 2002.
Priscilla McGuire
Consultant and Additional Inspector
Priscilla has extensive training and consultancy experience and has been an education inspector since 2002. She is an LSIS Facilitator for Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment and has a background in further, adult and higher education. She has also worked on national research for the DWP, NIACE and Lifelong Learning UK.
