This one day event is ideal for tutors and those responsible for one to one tutorials who want to develop strategies to help learners improve and change their learning behaviours.
Overview
This event will focus on equipping tutors with the skills to use tools to assist learners to reach their potential through motivation to change and maintain effective learning behaviours. It uses an interactive approach and footage of outstanding tutorial sessions will be viewed.
Content covered includes:
• Identifying the stages of change and the factors that contribute to adherence to effective learning behaviours
• Using a range of tools that contribute to helping learners identify their goals, barriers to achievement and strategies to overcome these
• Identifying the most effective methods to support learners demonstrating low levels of motivation towards their learning or progression.
The day will be interactive to encourage dialogue and development of skills.

Deborah McVey
Head of Observe and Improve
Deborah has an impressive reputation across the learning and skills sector. Following significant experience in FE and private training Deborah has established herself as a highly regarded consultant and popular and influential trainer. She has inspection and quality improvement experience in Colleges, Work Based Learning Providers, Adult and Community Learning, and Offender Learning Institutions. Known for her dynamic and engaging interpersonal skills and ‘down to earth’ approach, Deborah’s training sessions and presentations are much sought after. She has been an inspector with OFSTED since 2002.
